Classroom Valentines Crafted

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and so we “crafted”! I found the idea for the alligator valentines at Skip to My Lou. My six year old is giving his teacher and classmate one each. We added mini M&M’s and some laffy taffys to the box. We are very fortunate in that the boys have small classes. This was a quite involved project and I wouldn’t probably try to do it for 20 or more! He did some of the cutting and all of the decorating of the alligators. Everything we used was stuff I had on hand – so really thrifty too. I think they turned out great and he is really proud of them. He made an envelope card for the school secretary.

The picture looks like the alligators are advancing on the envelope!

My oldest son made iPods out of conversation hearts and Reese’s PB cups. I found the idea for this at the Family Fun website. These were a little less time intensive and he was able to do them all by himself. They turned out really well also and he, too, is looking forward to giving them to his class.

I sometimes question why we go to all the trouble of making the valentines when you can easily pick something up that they can just write the names on!?!!? I hope the boys have fond memories of making valentines when they grow up!
